In a shocking incident, Thirteen coronavirus patients who were in the ICU have died in a fire at a at a Covid-19 hospital in Maharashtra's Vasai. The fire broke out in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Vijay Vallabh Hospital, which is treating Covid-19 patients.
The fire broke out at around 3 AM in the ICU on the second floor of the four-storeyed Vijay Vallabh Hospital, an official said. "Around 90 patients were admitted to the hospital at the time of the incident," Dilip Shah, CEO, Vijay Vallabh Hospital told.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray expressed his sorrow over the deaths of 13 patients and ordered an investigation into the incident, as well as the immediate transfer of all other patients admitted to the hospital. The Chief Minister also announced that the families of the victims will receive Rs 5 lakh each, while those critically injured will be given Rs 1 lakh each.
