The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on Monday successfully test-fired its new generation nuclear-capable Agni Prime missile from a defence base off Odisha coast, officials said.
The sleek missile of the Agni series was test-fired from a mobile launcher off the Abdul Kalam Island in Odisha at 10.55 am, said a DRDO source. , it said.
“Various telemetry and radar stations positioned along the eastern coast tracked and monitored the missile. The missile has followed textbook trajectory, meeting all mission objectives with a high level of accuracy,” DRDO said in a statement.
The surface-to-surface ballistic missile, which has a range between 1000km to 2000km, can be used to target enemy armadas in the Indo-Pacific.
