Tokyo Olympics medal winner PV Sindhu offered prayers at the Sri Venkateswara Temple in Tirumala on Friday with her family. After overnight stay on the hills, she offered prayers to the presiding deity of Lord Venkateswara Friday morning. Tirumala officials offered prasadams to her in Ranganayakula Mandapam after Vedasirvachanam by Vedic pundits.
An ardent devotee of Lord Venkateswara, Sindhu was on a thanksgiving visit to the ancient temple after her bronze-winning performance at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Sindhu finished third in women's singles badminton at the Tokyo Olympics after beating China's He Bing Jiao in straight games in the bronze medal play-off match in Tokyo.
Sindhu made history in Tokyo as she became the only Indian woman to win two Olympic medals. She was the second middle winner at this Olympiad for India after weightlifter Mirabai Chanu.
