Actor Suriya and his actress wife Jyothika has donated Rs 1 crore for the welfare of the Irula tribe in Tamil Nadu. A cheque for the amount was presented by Suriya and Jyothika and the 2D team to (Retd) Justice Chandru and members of the Pazhangudi Irular Education Trust in the presence of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.
Interestingly, actor Suriya's 'Jai Bhim', a film that is all set to release on Tuesday hrough Amazon Prime, discusses about the challenges that are faced by the community of Irula Tribe.
Jai Bhim, which has been directed by journalist-turned-filmmaker Tha Se Gnanavel, is is inspired by a series of incidents that took place in 1993. Suriya plays lawyer in the film which is being bankrolled by Suriya’s home banner 2D Entertainment
