Actress-model and Bigg Boss Tamil 3 contestant Meera Mithun was booked by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) police on Sunday under SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act for an alleged slur against Scheduled Castes (SC) in a video which has gone viral on social media.
The FIR was lodged following a complaint by the Viduthalai Chiruthagai Katchi (VCK), a political party supporting the Dalit cause and led by Member of Parliament, Thol Thirumavalavan.
In the video, Meera Mithun was seen complaining about a director allegedly stealing her picture and using it for a movie’s first look, and uttered a derogatory term used as an insult against the Schedule Caste.
Meera Mithun began to accuse all Schedule Caste people claiming that they are involved in criminal activities and also said that it is the reason that they face all the problems. Meera then stated that all Schedule Caste directors and people in Tamil industry must be 'chucked' out.
Based on Vanni Arasu's complaint, the police have a filed a case under sections 153, 153A(1)(a), 505(1)(b), 505 (2) of IPC and several sections under SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act.
