Pushkar Singh Dhami is all set to become Uttarakhand's next Chief Minister after being elected unanimously as the leader of the BJP Legislature Party on Saturday. Dhami, who is a two-time MLA from Khatima assembly constituency in Udham Singh Nagar district, replaces Tirath Singh Rawat who resigned on Friday night. Union agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar announced Dhami's election.

"My party has appointed a common worker, the son of an ex-serviceman, who was born in Pithoragarh, to serve the state. We'll work together for people's welfare. We accept the challenge of serving people with the help of others, in a short time span," Pushkar said after being elected to the post. He will take oath later today.

Uttarakhand is set to hold Assembly elections in less than a year.
