Prominent RTI activist and former journalist Saket Gokhale on Thursday joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in the presence of Derek O’Brien, Yashwant Sinha and other TMC leaders at an event in New Delhi.
“The TMC is the second largest Opposition party in Parliament and it has been my obvious choice. If you look at all the national parties, the TMC takes an aggressive stand. The way the chief minister of Bengal has been fighting on the front foot, that’s what I’m looking for,” Gokhale said after joining the party.
In a statement, TMC said, “Saket Gokhale is a renowned RTI activist and began his career as a journalist. He has filed RTIs on issues of national importance for several years. Most recently, he filed queries on bank loans and budgetary allocation for Pegasus.”
