Nigerian actor Chekwume Malvin, who was part of Tamil hits like "Singham" and "Vishwaroopam", has been arrested on charges of drug peddling in Bengaluru on Thursday.
Chekwume Malvin, 45, who was staying in Bhattarahalli near K.R.Puram, was arrested while trying to sell drugs to customers on September 27. The police have recovered 15 grams of MDMA and 250 ML of hashish oil worth Rs 7.5 lakh from the accused person. The police are now looking into his connections with the Sandalwood film industry here, besides in Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad and other cities.
Malvin's arrest came to light one day after four people, including two Iran nationals, were nabbed with drugs in Bengaluru. The accused were arrested with drugs worth Rs 1 crore. The city police acted on a tip-off about the accused and intercepted their car at on Sunday afternoon. Two of the accused, who are from Iran, had been staying in India even as their visas had expired.
